January is loud.
Everyone is telling you to set goals.
Everyone is selling their newest, greatest products.
Your brain is telling you to fix your habits.
You vow to try harder this year.
You pick a “word” for your year.

But here’s what I’ve learned as a nurse and a coach:
Most people don’t need more discipline. They need clarity and safety first.
When I left my corporate healthcare role, I didn’t leave because I lacked motivation. I left because my nervous system was fried. I was competent, accomplished, and deeply out of alignment.
From the outside, everything looked “fine.”
I regularly met with my team to support them, I said yes to every new project, new pivot, new everything. I never said no.
Inside, I felt disconnected, exhausted, and unsure of what I actually needed anymore. I only knew I couldn’t do this for 10 more years until “retirement”. I knew sitting in front of my computer every day for hours on end in Zoom’s that I was withering away as a person. I was only prioritizing the work.
I pretended ‘self-care’.
I went out with my friends
I zoned out on my phone
I avoided, avoided, avoided all the things that would make my life better.
Why? Because of fear. Because of being uncomfortable.
That’s the part no one talks about.
When you’ve spent years being capable, reliable, and strong for others, you lose touch with your own internal signals. You don’t know what you want because you’ve been responding to what’s required.
So you try to reset.
New routines.
New plans.
New promises.
And they don’t stick.
Not because you failed. But because you skipped the first step.
What Coaching Actually Solves
Real coaching is not about fixing you.
It helps you:
slow down enough to hear yourself again-no matter how loud it is
understand why change feels hard instead of blaming yourself-it’s not your fault, our phones are created to keep you distracted for quick dopamine.
reconnect with what actually matters before you commit to anything
create forward movement that feels calm, not forced
Before habits.
Before goals.
Before another plan.
We find your compass.
When people come to me, they often say:
“I don’t know what’s wrong. I just know this isn’t working anymore.”
That’s not confusion. That’s information.
And January is actually the perfect time to listen.
If You’re Reading This…
If you’re tired of starting over every yearIf rest hasn’t fixed the exhaustion. If you feel capable but quietly lost.
Nothing is broken.
You don’t need a resolution.
You need orientation.
This month isn’t about doing more.
It’s about getting clear enough to move in the right direction.
And that changes everything.
If you want support slowing down and getting clear before you change anything, this is the work I do. You can start with a simple reset conversation when it feels right.
